Parentification 101:

A Free Training for Providers, Collaborators & Referrers

Understanding early caregiving isn’t optional—it’s essential.

If you work with clients who are over-responsible, deeply self-sacrificing, or burned out from always being “the strong one,” chances are you’ve met someone impacted by parentification.

But what do you do when what they’re describing sounds “normal”? When early maturity was praised and selflessness is seen as a strength? How do you spot the signs of unintentional emotional neglect—and what’s your next move? That’s why we created this FREE training. To help you name what’s often invisible. To recognize the impact. And to refer with confidence.

The Widespread Impact of Parentification

According to The Young Caregivers in the U.S. Report of 2005 - 1.4 million children in the U.S between the ages of 8 and 18 provided care for an older adult or sibling; 16 years later the 2021 Social Policy Report found that 5.4 million children in the United States were responsible for caring for a family member at home.

The Ripple Effect of Parentification

Children who were parentified experience suboptimal outcomes in adulthood including higher incidence of depression, anxiety, drug use and addiction, under and unemployment, poor physical health, and lower education attainment (NCBI.NLM.NIH.gov).

🧠 This isn’t your average CE-style training.

This is a conversation rooted in lived experience, cultural relevance, and clinical insight.
It’s designed to help professionals, educators, and community partners gain clarity on how early caregiving roles shape identity, relationships, and long-term mental health.

Whether you’re a therapist, case manager, educator, or healthcare provider—this is for you.
