New Look, Same Us

Things may look different around here, but at Myers-Galloway Counseling, the core of who we are is still the same. Our mission continues to be about empowering Black women to take charge of their mental health and well being.

Sometimes when a business shares a new logo and new website, old friends and clients might take pause. So we sat down with Owner Montina Myers-Galloway to learn a little more about the aesthetic changes to the brand and what’s next for Myers-Galloway Counseling:

Q: Montina, what prompted the new brand design?

A: We have learned so much about the real issues facing our clients over the last five and a half years. We wanted the aesthetic changes to represent exactly who we serve and the problems we help them solve. Along with a new logo, we have also refined our mission and vision to focus more on the larger impact we’d like to make. Our mission is to heal and develop confident Black women so they can create resilient families. Our vision is to create an environment where mental health conversations become normalized for Black women creating an improved sense of self and healthier family relationships.

However, creating these services specifically for Black women does not exclude our support of non-Black clients. We don’t discriminate or deny services based on race, ethnicity or gender. The mission of the company is based on our recognition of the critical need within the Black community to receive quality and culturally competent mental health care.

Q: How do you hope Black women will feel when they find Myers-Galloway Counseling online?

A: When people see our brand, I want them to get a sense of safety and know that there is a resource to address their specific needs. The impact of parentification and adultification are very prominent among Black women; it impacts our view of ourselves, our relationship with our families, and can impede growth within our careers. We are looking forward to educating the community about these topics.

Q: Along with a new look, there are also new faces! Can you tell us a little bit about your growing team?

A: Yes! Thank God for help!

Ayanna Carrington is our new Executive Assistant. In her role, she expertly handles most administrative and back of office tasks. She is the liaison for our clients and partners and ensures that we’re a perfect fit to support them as well as assist with many other aspects to keep the practice running.

Archie Stewart is our Director of Operations. In her role, she strategically handles the ins and outs of our company systems and processes. She also helps the company manage the deliverance of services.

Q: Any exciting updates or news you can share about what’s coming up in the next few months for Myers-Galloway Counseling?

A: I will leave you in suspense. *Smile* Be on the lookout for Myers-Galloway Counseling making an even bigger impact within the community.
