Hey I’m Tori,

I help Gen-Z Black women (ages 21 to 26), who find it difficult to embrace their authentic self. They are exhausted from hiding their true identity from others. I love working with women who have attachment issues that have caused friction in all of their relationships. I also enjoy working with women who have experienced religious trauma like shame, guilt, isolation, or ostracization. I help them learn how liberating setting boundaries, and voicing their needs can be.

Overtime, my clients experience a decrease in symptoms of depression and anxiety. They experience a transformation in their self-esteem as they become more confident in their identity as a Black woman. My clients also experience growth in their social skills because they no longer allow the opinions of others to cripple them. They not only see a positive shift in their relationships but also a change in how they feel about themselves.

Clients come to me on a weekly basis to learn emotional regulation skills in a safe supportive space. Before therapy, my clients feel like a burden when sharing their fears and worries with loved ones.

My general approach is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy; however, I may draw from other techniques and theoretical approaches. With my approach being eclectic in nature, I am able to assist you in a variety of ways. My therapeutic style incorporates mindfulness methods such as meditation and breathing exercises. Mindfulness is a powerful technique because it allows you to slow down non-judgmentally which brings your focus back to the present moment. Since therapy is a collaborative process, you can also expect at-home therapy exercises which include journaling, meditation, or reflection activities. These exercises will help you cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself, your values, and goals. I believe therapy leads to greater self awareness which then leads to personal growth, better decision-making, and a stronger sense of identity. By finding the right therapist you are able to feel safe, supported, and empowered.

If you are ready to embrace your authentic self, and to let go of the fear of how others perceive you, contact me at Myers-Galloway Counseling in Charlotte, NC for a FREE 15 minute phone consultation at 704-750-1889 or click above.
