Top Questions

  • Please confirm that the therapist you select accepts your specific insurance plan prior to your first appointment. You can confirm this by calling the number on the back of your insurance card.

    Currently, Montina accepts private pay, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (All PPO, All Indemnity, Blue Home with Novant Health, and Blue Care) and United Health Care insurance plans.

    If you prefer to pay out of pocket, you will receive a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Clients often take advantage of Health Savings or Flexible Spending accounts.

  • Practice policy includes keeping a debit or credit card on file for payment at the time of service. Cash or checks are not accepted. Below are session fees by provider type:

    Montina Myers-Galloway - $350 per session

    Other Staff Therapist - $175 per session

    Clinical Mental Health Interns - Services available at a reduced rate. Call 704-750-1889 for rates.

  • No. Currently we do not accept medicare or medicaid plans for therapy sessions.

  • Please provide a 24-hour notice for the cancellation OR rescheduling of an appointment. Otherwise, the debit or credit card on file will automatically be charged for the entire amount of the scheduled session. Monday appointments must be canceled by 5 p.m. on the preceding Friday. If you cancel or reschedule more than 3 appointments without 24-hour’s notice, your services will be terminated. No refunds will be given for current or previous services provided.

  • Myers-Galloway Counseling does not discriminate or deny services based on race, ethnicity or gender. The mission of the company is based on our recognition of the critical need within the Black community to receive quality and culturally competent mental health care.

  • Being committed to attending therapy on a weekly basis has been known to significantly improve therapeutic outcomes. It is best to participate in treatment every week to give your self the best chance at success.

  • Yes. Myers-Galloway Counseling provides in-person and telemental health or online counseling for clients who are residents of North Carolina. You will be asked to provide a copy of your North Carolina Drivers License and attest to your residency of the state.

  • No. Myers-Galloway Counseling does not offer addictions treatment nor is our treatment appropriate for clients who are recently recovering.

  • Myers-Galloway Counseling does not communicate with anyone about your case unless required by law. We also do not provide letters for service animals or short term disability claims. You will have to ask your primary care physician for support on those matters.

  • During your first session, there will be a lot of questions. By the time you meet with your therapist, you would have already reviewed practice policies and completed the intake form. This is a good time to confirm if working together will be a good fit. This is pretty standard when you are in the early stages. As you get to know your therapist, this gets easier. Some questions that may come up are what made you decide to try therapy? What are your goals for the process? Do you have a family history of the issues you are experiencing? What are your current relationships like?

  • Online counseling may be right for you if you reside in the state of North Carolina and you are willing to verify your identity, location, and phone number. Online counseling may be right for you if you are comfortable and eager to use technology. Online counseling may be a great option if you have consistent access to a location that allows you to have privacy, confidentiality, and a secure internet connection.

  • Online counseling may not be a good fit for you if you have frequent suicidal thoughts or homicidal urges. Online counseling may not be right for you if you are currently in a living situation that includes domestic violence or abuse. If you do not trust technology, you may feel more comfortable in an office setting.

  • There are different opinions and views within the general public that could make this confusing. In the profession the words therapy and counseling are often used interchangeably. To simplify it, think about counseling as a task oriented and guided relationship. Therapy or psychotherapy is a deeper, more transformative healing process. Both therapy and counseling are for your personal growth.

  • Results in therapy depend on your level of consistency, engagement, and motivation in the process. In the beginning, it is helpful to attend weekly to create and measure your progress. Clients have reported feeling better after the first session because they finally get things off their chest. Benefits of therapy include, improved self-esteem, clarity, perspective, increased mindfulness, increased sleep, and improved relationships.

  • A relationship with a licensed therapist means you have someone trained to help you grow. Your friends and family may have a limited perspective. Myers-Galloway Counseling is dedicated to helping you find your own answers by connecting with what is true and accurate for you. If you notice yourself having the same conversation over and over with family and friends, it may be time to go deeper with a therapist.

  • Feeling anxious or sad is likely unavoidable throughout transitions in life. When anxiety or depression interrupt your functioning, it is a good time to consider therapy. If you find yourself in isolation, trouble sleeping, on edge, or irritable therapy is a great solution. Anxiety and depression can be crippling conditions that cost you more in the end.   • Possibly. Therapy can be used as a preventative solution so that you have practices in place when challenges do arise. Exploring family history, current coping skills, or relationship patterns can be helpful self-reflection.

  • There are many different treatments for depression. Myers-Galloway Counseling is an eclectic practice and primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which focuses on modifying negative thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses.

  • There are many different treatments for conditions such as generalized anxiety disorders. Myers-Galloway Counseling uses Mindfulness Techniques to empower you to manage symptoms.

  • No. If it is determined that medication is necessary, your therapist is willing to collaborate with a psychiatrist with your written consent.

  • Evening and weekend appointments are not available.

  • Therapy sessions last about 50 minutes. We are outlining goals and building a relationship.

  • As licensed professionals in the state of North Carolina, our providers cannot disclose any information about a client without written consent. The exceptions are if there is suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse. Another exception is if you are threatening to hurt another person or yourself.
